The Accidental Embroiderer

A little bit of light relief

Recently I’ve been working on a lot of serious, “heavyweight” designs for various exhibitions, and suddenly I felt like doing something silly and colourful for a change. So I sketched out a cartoony rooster while I was watching something on television and then spent an enjoyable afternoon digitising him. He took a while to stitch out because it’s quite a large design, but it did make a change from all the arty things that are on my to-do list

However that's enough fun for the moment – now I'd better get back to work on the serious stuff

  1. He’s great! Love the attitude and the way you did the feathery stitches along the spines of his feathers and his neck.
    The colors are great, too.

  2. Love him! He’s super gorgeous! Those u-shaped bits are very attractive and the feathers have enough variation to make them look real. I hope you work him into something to exhibit, he’ll be a hit!

  3. I love him. Love his coloring, how you’ve digitized the feathers and his feet. Oh my, you should take more breaks. Great job.

  4. Hi Mia, your rooster is so fun and colorful against the soft muted colors of your hand painted fabric. which high lights the textures of his feathers and body. A spectacular rooster in all of his glorious colors and feathers.
