The Accidental Embroiderer

Finally – the folk art panel

If you were reading this blog last February and March, you may remember that I posted a couple of designs in a folk art style, and indeed gave some of them away as freebies. The designs were supposed to be part of a big folk art panel, but because digitising is so much more fun than actually stitching things out, I never seemed to get around to finishing the panel. However I've finally got my act together and managed to baste all the little folk art flowers and animals together into a single panel.

The (mostly) finished folk art panel

It's not well finished, but eventually I might get round to putting a border around it and embellishing the junctions between the separate embroideries with some decorative stitching. But as they say, don't hold your breath, so I think I'd better post this now before I forget about it and get distracted by something else

  1. Your panel is truly amazing with all of the fun, creative, and colorful folk art embroidered designs. The distribution and layout of the different animals and flowers totally complements each of the individual stitch outs. Hope you are having a wonderful week.

  2. Mia, these are all great designs individually. However ALL together is fantastic, and i am sure when you have time to make a border this shall be an outstanding display. My idea would be something very simple, so as not to overcrowd the individual designs, may be lightly patterned material or stripes.
    Hope you are keeping well.

  3. Love your Folk Art Panel. You did a wonderful job of putting it all together. Just grab the panel by the horns (so to speak and put a simple border around it, so it can be hung and enjoyed by everyone.

  4. Love your creations! Beyond the individual designs and their lovely stitch-outs, I’m always amazed at how you size and arrange all the parts into a beautiful, harmonious whole. I remember the bunny and cat, and now I love the fish, goat and sheep…and the birds…the horse, the flowers, and the heart. And the entirety. Beautiful work, as always!

  5. Love your panel. You put them together so well. I am putting your cat rabbit, lamb and fox together for a center piece for my table. The cat is done and looks so good. I enjoy doing your designs they just make me happy. Thanks

  6. Reminds me of the tapestries I saw as a child growing up in Mexico. Bright, vibrant colors and flowers incorporated everywhere. Such a lovely panel this is.
